Electronics and Communication Engineering

Department Introduction

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2001 and is ISO certified. It is equipped with excellent infrastructure. The department has a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members in different fields of specialization.

The ECE Department is keen on developing the instructional, analytical and communication capabilities of the forth coming engineers. The department is equipped with adequate classrooms, department library, seminar hall, and conference hall. The department had started with 60 students and now the intake is 120 students per batch.

The Electronic Devices and Circuits, Communication, Microprocessor, Digital signal processing, Microwave, Electronic system design, linear integrated circuits, and Networking are well equipped laboratories with all facilities.

Departmental Activities

The department Association - ARBITRIUM was inaugurated in the year 2004 by the first batch students. Arbitrium as the name suggests is an association for the new innovation. Its main objective is to infuse scientific temper in students, to develop the department as the centre of excellence in ECE and to make the students blossom into meritorious and self-disciplined engineers by various association activities.

The Association (ARBITRIUM) and National level Technical symposium (INTAS) has been conducted every year to enhance the practical knowledge and to develop the leadership qualities.

Department Reports and News

Final year students Vinuvijay & Ishwarya had been placed in Infosys and Arun Menon was placed in CTS. Almost 30 students had been placed in companies like CRDS, Ajuba etc. Third-year students were given soft skill training for a week in order to develop their communication and interpersonal skills to face interviews. New equipment was purchased for the DSP and Network Lab for this semester. Among the faculty members 7 of them are pursuing their higher education.

Preface

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering came into existence from the very inception of the college in 2002. Initially, the annual intake was 60. In tune with the growing demand profile globally for CSE, the intake level was enhanced to 90 in the year 2006 and subsequently stepped up to 120 in the year 2009 and onwards. As per university norms, semester system is being followed.

  • Student strength, physical Infrastructure, number of labs - subject wise, as per the rapid upgradation introduced by AICTE in the recent times and progressive changes in syllabi of Anna University.
  • Central and Department Library, number of systems in labs, requisite software, organization and establishment of in-house maintenance wing and its training.

Department Introduction

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in 2004 with a capacity of 30 students and the intake was increased to 60 from 2008 and occupies a prominent place in the records of its academic history. The department has been producing efficient engineers with outstanding academic and overall performance. We have experienced faculty members with different specialization in Design, Thermal, Manufacturing, CAD and Industrial Engineering. The department has an excellent infrastructure with latest and advanced high end modeling and analysis software's like PRO-E, ANSYS, NASTRAN, LAB VIEW and MATLAB. In the Anna University inspection the Department has scored 91.8% in the year 2009-2010.

Department Introduction

The motto of the department is to inculcate good discipline among the students in addition to preparing them to meet the challenges in the competitive global market.

Six batches of students have successfully passed out from the department and most of them are placed in highly reputed organizations across the globe.

The department runs an association "EcElEch- Eclectic Electric Echelon" which was formed in the year 2004. All the students of the department are members of this association. Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Department was started in Asan Memorial College of Engineering and Technology in the year 2009-2010 to offer B.E. (EIE) programme under the affiliation of Anna University.

Instrumentation Engineering

Instrumentation is defined as the art and science of measurement and control of process variables within a production or manufacturing area.

Instrumentation Engineering is the engineering specialization focused on the principle and operation of measuring instruments that are used in design and configuration of automated systems in electrical, pneumatic domains etc.

An Engineer

Instrumentation Engineers are responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of instruments and entire instrumentation systems considered being the eyes and ears of any industrial undertaking. The type of instruments needed for ensuring better quality and efficiency of the end product are decided by an instrumentation engineer. An engineer is Responsible for installation and commissioning as well as trouble shooting.

Science and Humanities

Department of Science and Humanities have highly dedicated well qualified and research oriented faculty members. Most of them have Doctoral Degrees and others are in the process of pursuing their PhDs. We are establishing a full time research lab in the fields of Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Physics and Applied Mathematics. Many of our faculty members attend various workshops and seminars as a part of our faculty development program. The departments are always striving hard to create and nurture scientific ideas in the young minds.

Department of Chemistry

The Chemistry department has a well equipped, spacious and good ventilated laboratory. We provide individual chemical kit to each and every student. We are establishing research laboratory in the field of corrosion and catalysis, Environmental Chemistry. Research articles by our staff have been published in various National and International journals.

The curriculum imparts basic chemistry and knowledge in various fields of Rocket Propellants, Nuclear reactors, Nano Technology, Environmental Pollution and Paint Technology.

Department of English

The highlight of the English department is the language lab. A fully fledged computer aided language lab accommodating 35 student booths and one teacher kit (which acts also as the server) has been established. This sophisticated language lab facilitates in improving the proficiency and communication skills of the students. The modern lab is installed with software's that help the students to acquire trained in communicational behavioral and management skills.

This modern language laboratory sharpens the listening and speaking skills of the student and enables them to perform well in GRE, TOFEL, GMAT and other competitions (both co-curricular and extracurricular) conducted by other institutions and universities.

Department of Mathematics

Mathematics is the mother of scientific and engineering courses. Therefore special attention is paid for the development of basic mathematical skills required for technical curriculum. The teachers encourage mathematical talents among the students and encourage them to take part in the intercollegiate mathematical competitions held in various institutions.

Department of Physics

The Physics laboratory is spacious with special provisions for advanced level experiments like Laser, Optical Fibers and provides good exposure to the students. While the students get hands-on training on these experiments, care is taken to strengthen their knowledge on basics. Students are encouraged to perform experiments individually. On the theoretical side the curriculum imparts knowledge on applied Physics and Material Science.
